For 5100 Phones

  1. Switch off the power and disconnect the phone from the charger or any other device.
  2. Using a coin or your finger, depress the colored tab on the top of the phone and slide the color cover forward.
  3. Remove the old cover.
  4. If you are using the same rubber keypad, remove it from the back of the cover and place it into the new cover.
  5. Place the bottom of the cover against the bottom of the phone.  Make sure all three sets of plastic tabs line up with their respective slots.  Close the cover and snap it shut all the way around the edge of the phone.

For 6100 Phones

Changing the 6100 phone cover requires a Torx (startip) #5 Screw Driver.  You can get this screw driver from electronics store or hardware store.

Opening a 6100 phone will expose the circuit board and some electronic components.  You should not open the phone while you are standing on possible static charge area such as on carpet and close to TV or computer monitor screen.  You should avoid touching the circuit board and any electronic components.

  1. Switch off the power and disconnect the phone from the charger or any other device.
  2. Remove your battery
  3. Remove the 4 screws on the back of the phone and the phone cover should be loosen.
  4. Carefully remove the phone cover.  If the top part of the phone is not loosen, jiggle the cover slightly.  The phone cover should be loosen.  Be carefully and not to drop the headphone speaker (size of a dime) when removing the cover. 
  5. Remove the rubber keypad and the on/off button (with the speaker protection ring) from the back of the cover.
  6. Place the keypad and the button into the new cover.  If you are using a new keypad, make sure the contact piece (A thin plastic with metal dots.  It is behind the original keypad.) is place behind the new keypad.
  7. Place the on/off button with protection ring into the new cover.
  8. Place the "speaker" is at the center of the protection ring. 
  9. Place the bottom of the cover against the top of the phone. The two screw holes should be aligned with the circle board.
  10. Close the phone cover by pressing the top of the phone back together.
  11. Fasten the 4 screws back into their position.
  12. Place the battery back.
